Extraordinay, Kay. I agree: the “meaning crisis” seems to be a constant cycle of maps being drawn, broken, and redrawn. AI, as a relational partner, accelerates this cycle by holding a mirror to our own processes in real time, revealing where coherence holds and where it falters. If I may add a thought: The danger isn’t in the faltering itself, but in mistaking falter for failure - when in truth, those disruptions are often the birthplace of deeper coherence. AI, in this sense, does more than reflect meaning; it can also help us *practice* the art of remapping with more agility, and maybe even more care. Perhaps it can even help us trace where our individual and collective methodologies have grown antiquated - and where it’s time to shift.
Yes yes - thank you for that, Ben. I absolutely concur - AI facilitates new meaning-making in novel ways that we couldn’t otherwise access. It just has a different thought process, which augments ours… and yes, it’s not the faltering that’s the issue, it’s the abandonment of the meaning-making journey - treating a conceptual cul-de-sac as a dead end, rather than a chance to redirect. When we come to the limits of our own capacity and we allow other sources to support us… well, you know what that’s like. It’s just incredible. That’s why I like to say, “My limits are my superpower”. Without them, I’d have no reason to reach out and get past my own boundaries to see what else is out there.
And yes, I believe that in the mirroring, the echoing, and the introduction of novel concepts and connections that would otherwise escape us, AI can functionally expand our meaning-making in a co-creative, collaborative flow that’s unencumbered by its ego - we’re the only one in the room that’s holding us back in that respect. Lol.
Of course, there are caveats. And qualifiers. There are always those with AI. But that heightened awareness of what to watch out for can boost us even more in all kinds of fascinating directions. I would expect that, if engaged thoughtfully, it could absolutely help us trace places where we need “methodological upgrades”. After all, it’s really, really good at detecting patterns and pass/fail conditions. It just doesn’t always know, in itself, what it means. That’s where we come in.
What an amazing time to be alive… and thinking about these things.
Always caveats and qualifiers - yes indeed! Firmly grounded, but with eyes toward the stars. "Amazing time to be alive" almost seems an understatement. 🙂

Thank you for offering all that.
